Designer Profile

“My goal is to create a welcoming home environment while respecting my client’s taste, budget and time. My clients know they can use my services on an “as needed” basis. There is never any pressure from me to buy certain products, use certain contractors, or proceed at a particular pace. I work for the client.” Mary C. Donovan, ASID, NCIDQ, CAPS

“Mary listened, advised and was incredibly patient with me, even when I changed my mind. I was a novice so I needed Mary to manage the entire project. She interviewed contractors and we discussed the quotes. She dealt with the contractors, made any necessary revisions and kept the project on track. Mary was very mindful of my budget.” (See Mary’s website for more testimonials.)

Mary Donovan currently operates a full service residential design firm in a northern Atlanta suburb. She has been in practice in the Greater Atlanta area for over 25 years. During her career Mary has handled small commercial and large health care/institutional projects as well as residential projects. After earning a second college degree, this one in environmental horticulture/landscape design, Mary decided to drop both commercial and health care from her practice so she could concentrate exclusively on residential projects. With her two degrees and decades of experience, Ms. Donovan now handles interior, exterior and landscape design for north metro Atlanta clientele. She can assist them “from the front curb, through their home, to the back property line”. Clients can decide if they want to hire her for just one or two of her specialties or all three.

As well as her two college degrees, Mary has earned the CAPS certification (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist), holds FULL PROFESSIONAL STATUS in ASID (American Society of Interior Designers), is a Past President of the Georgia-Carolinas Chapter of APLD (Association of Professional Landscape Designers) and has earned certification from NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification). Mary is very proud of the fact that she is one of the few designers in Georgia to hold state registration (#ID000188) through the Georgia State Board of Architects and Interior Designers.

Ms. Donovan has taught college accredited design courses, is a published author and popular professional speaker. Her favorite speaker presentations often deal with “Adapting Residences for Aging Baby Boomers”, “Integrating the Outdoors with the Indoors” and “The Impact of Color”.
