The Importance of Continuing Education for Design Professionals
Continuing education is critical to the ongoing success of the practicing interior designer. With the ever-changing application of technology and the introduction of new product standards and specifications, interior designers must constantly seek to gain additional knowledge. To learn more about who accredits CEUs and how, click here.

CEU Requirements
Many of the states or provinces that have laws regulating the practice of interior design and/or the use of a title require continuing education as a condition of renewal. If you practice in one or more of these states or provinces, you should contact the appropriate state board or agency for information about specific requirements. For contact information, click here. [NOTE: You do not need to be a member of any professional organization to receive credit for approved CEUs.]

Keeping Track of Your CEUs
You can keep a record of your CEU courses through NCIDQ with a form you receive when you take a course. If you have taken an interior design-related course for which you did not receive CEU credit, you can obtain credit by completing an Individual CEU Approval Form along with an NCIDQ participant form. (Please note: The Individual CEU Approval Form is only for those courses which have not been approved by any member of IDCEC.) To download or print a copy of both forms, click here, or send an e-mail request with your name and mailing address to education@asid.org.

ASID CEUs
ASID sponsors a wide range of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in varying lengths and topics, all of which are evaluated in accordance with strict IDCEC guidelines. You do not have to be an ASID member to receive CEU credit for these courses. Click here for a calendar of upcoming events.

ASID Pocket CEU
The Pocket CEU is the most recent innovative and time-saving development in continuing education. Created in recognition of the growing need for accessible design education, the Pocket CEU allows you to earn CEU credit without venturing farther than the ASID Professional Designer. Thanks to an idea provided by Lindsey Green, ASID of the Virginia Chapter, you now have access to cutting-edge research, valuable updates on specialties and technology, and a direct link to the most creative, exciting professionals in the field.

If you are interested in completing a Pocket CEU, simply provide the author with your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, and a check for $25.00. Within two weeks, you will receive a full article and a related exercise. Upon completion of the reading and exercise, the author will provide you with the necessary paperwork to register your 0.2 CEU credit.

The list of Pocket CEUs is always growing. If you would like to submit material to be considered for a Pocket CEU, click here to download or print a proposal submission form.
